About Our Live Rates Dashboard

Our live exchange rates dashboard shows real-time mid-market rates for 24 major currency pairs, 6 cross pairs, and 6 major cryptocurrencies. Rates auto-refresh every 60 seconds, giving you an up-to-the-minute view of global currency markets. You can pause auto-refresh, change the base currency, or manually refresh at any time.

The rates shown are mid-market rates — the midpoint between buy and sell prices on the global forex market. These are the fairest rates available and are used as the benchmark by financial institutions worldwide. Actual rates from banks and money transfer services will differ due to their markup and fees.

Understanding Currency Pair Notation

Currency pairs are shown in the format "BASE/QUOTE" (e.g., USD/EUR = 0.9200). This means 1 unit of the base currency (USD) equals 0.9200 units of the quote currency (EUR). When the number goes up, the base currency has strengthened. When it goes down, the base currency has weakened.

Cross pairs (like EUR/GBP or AUD/NZD) do not involve USD directly. They are calculated from each currency's individual rate against USD. Cross pairs are particularly important for European traders and for understanding regional currency dynamics.

When Do Rates Change Most?

Forex markets are open 24 hours a day, 5 days a week (closed on weekends). The most volatile periods are during the overlap of major trading sessions: the London-New York overlap (8 AM - 12 PM EST) sees the highest trading volume and the most significant price movements. Economic data releases (like US jobs reports, inflation data, and central bank decisions) can cause sharp rate changes.

Cryptocurrency markets operate 24/7, including weekends. Crypto prices tend to be more volatile than fiat currencies, with daily swings of 2-5% being common for major coins like Bitcoin and Ethereum.

Frequently Asked Questions

How often do the rates update?

Rates auto-refresh every 60 seconds. You can also click "Refresh Now" for an instant update, or pause auto-refresh if you prefer static rates.

Are these the rates I will get from my bank?

No. These are mid-market rates — the real exchange rate. Banks and services add a markup (typically 1-4%). Use these rates as a benchmark to evaluate how good (or bad) a rate you are being offered.

What do the arrows mean?

Green up arrows indicate the rate has increased since the last refresh. Red down arrows indicate a decrease. No arrow means the rate has not changed since the last update.
